Chapter Six

Raphael slammed me hard into the mat, knocking the air out of my lungs. I groaned from the pain and rolled over, climbing onto all fours. We’d been practicing for two hours now and I was getting my ass handed to me on a dirty fucking plate. He showed me no mercy and I really wanted to knock his perfect white teeth down his motherfucking throat. It was a good thing we’d fucked before this shit, because I wasn’t in the mood one bit right now. I did have to give Raphael credit, he was highly skilled, but he was also an annoying shit talker to boot.

“Get up and let’s try again,” he barked.

“Give me a minute to catch my breath, damn it,” I complained, then rubbed a sore spot on my side.

“You’ll heal in no time… shake it off.”

I was already healing. Lucky for me, my bones didn’t break, because lord knows he wasn’t pulling his punches whatsoever. I rose to my feet and took a defensive stance, fists raised. Raphael attacked in a barrage of fists and feet, coming at me from all directions. I managed to block quite a few, but still got caught by some powerful blows. The last one knocked me back on my ass and I grunted in frustration as well as pain.

“Damn it!” I growled, slamming my palms on the mat.

“Focus, Brian,” Raphael said, walking over to me. He held his hand out and I took it.

I was back on my feet now and before I could gather my wits, he punched the fuck out of me, knocking me back to the mat. “What the hell?!” I dabbed blood from my split lip and looked up at him.

“Never let your guard down. You should know this.”

That tricky motherfucker! “Point taken.” He reached down to offer me a hand again and I slapped it away. “I can get up on my own.”

“Fine.”

I stood up and got back into my stance.

“Come at me. Take me down,” Raphael instructed.

I wanted to take him up on his challenge and knock him flat on his plump, fuckable ass. “So you want me on the offense?”

He nodded. “Yeah, give me your best shot, soldier.”

I smirked and came at him. I threw a punch that he dodged, and he followed up with an uppercut to my chin that snapped my head back. I saw a blinding light and before I could recuperate, he then teleported, popping up behind me and jabbing me in the ribs. Pain throbbed in two places on my body and I was still reeling from the punch to my face. I staggered to the side, but caught my balance before I fell to the floor.

Raphael was on me again, leaping in the air and coming down with a balled fist. I managed to block it and grabbed his shirt, bringing him closer as I slammed my forehead into his nose. I was thrilled when I heard him groan in pain, but my victory, however tiny, didn’t last long.
